Insights from Stratcomm Africa's CEO at YALI Event: The Transformative Power of Effective Communication in Tech Innovation

Climate action is no longer just an option; it is a global imperative. The urgency of addressing climate change has led to a surge of innovations in clean technologies and sustainable practices. However, for these innovations to make a significant impact, their initiators ought to be able to  communicate effectively the relevance and value of the innovation to the right audiences. This is Stratcomm Africa’s forte

At the intersection of climate tech innovation and effective communication lies a transformative opportunity.

Led by its CEO, Esther A N Cobbah, Stratcomm Africa has embarked on a mission to address the urgent global need for climate change communication, particularly in Africa. We are therefore delighted that we had the opportunity to  collaborate   with the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI)  (a US Government programme sponsored  by USAID ) West Africa Chapter, to  undertake  training for fifty (50) young climate tech innovators drawn from across Africa. Stratcomm Africa  took them through the science and art of employing communication as a tool for marketing their climate tech innovations, pitching the innovations to prospective partners and investors and also to the wider public to ensure widespread and sustainable public acceptance and patronage.

The YALI Climate Tech Innovators and Leaders Programme, hosted at the YALI Regional Leadership Center for West Africa on the GIMPA campus in Accra, is where these young African leaders enhanced their skills to become even more effective change makers. The programmme’s focus is clear: facilitate  a learning process that enables  the young innovators to equip themselves with the ability to sharpen the effectiveness and relevance of their climate tech innovations. The ability to communicate them successfully locally and globally is important for this.

Effective communication is a vital catalyst for action. People need to know, understand, and appreciate the need for climate action, and how any climate tech innovation facilitates action to address the negative impacts of climate change in the world, particularly in Africa. Even the most groundbreaking innovations may not see the light of day if not understood and appreciated.

During the  programme, participants covered a wide range of topics, including Effective Leadership, Civic Community Engagement, and Climate Tech Communication. These subjects are essential for building well-rounded leaders who are able  to create innovative solutions and also effectively convey their importance to the world.

For Stratcomm Africa, Climate Change communication is a passion. Thus equipping the young African leaders that gathered at the West Africa Yali Center at  GIMPA with the tools they need to convey their climate tech ideas and solutions, was a delight! Successfully communicating their innovations would help them become the driving force behind the transformation required to improve livelihoods and create a more sustainable future.

With 50 amazing young African leaders being equipped with skills for communicating their climate tech innovations to Africa and the world, the impact of this initiative has the potential to inspire, mobilize, and drive positive change on a global scale.

Stratcomm Africa's commitment to training the next generation of climate tech communicators is a crucial step towards a more sustainable and resilient future.

Stratcomm Africa believes that communication facilitates change, even in the face of resistance. Climate action requires a collective effort, and it starts with understanding the need for, and the actions required to realise, the change

For many years the environment has been a key focus of Stratcomm Africa. In 2013, as part of our corporate social responsibility, we initiated the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement with its flagship event, the Ghana Garden and Flower Show aimed at promoting, among other things, environmental sustainability as part of efforts to combat climate change and contribute  to the achievement  of the UN Sustainable  Development  Goals. ( UNSDGs)

The Ghana Garden and Flower  Show celebrates Ghana's rich flora and fauna, with the hope of enlightening our fellow citizens about the potential that lies within these resources. The celebration doesn't stop at admiring the aesthetic value of gardens and flowers; it extends to knowing and appreciating practical benefits to be derived from them for our environment we live in and for our health and livelihood. Stratcomm Africa continues to mobilise the Ghanaian society to work towards a Greener, Cleaner, Healthier, Wealthier and more Beautiful Ghana … and indeed a more beautiful world.
